Lake intelligence from satellites, sensors and models

Hydroremote turns Earth observation, in-lake monitoring and process models into decisions that regional councils, iwi and infrastructure owners can act on.

What we do

Two decades of peer-reviewed work on New Zealand lakes, delivered as practical consulting. We combine three data streams most providers treat separately — satellite remote sensing, high-frequency buoy and sensor data, and coupled hydrodynamic–ecological models — into a single, defensible picture of how a waterbody behaves and how it will respond to management.

🛰️ Remote sensing

Chlorophyll-a, water clarity, suspended sediment and surface temperature mapped across whole lake districts from Landsat, Sentinel-2/3 and MODIS — back to 1999 where the archive allows.

📡 Monitoring & sensors

Design and analysis of buoy networks and high-frequency sensor data; quality control, gap-filling and trend detection that stands up to scrutiny.

🔬 Lake & catchment modelling

GLM-AED and 3-D hydrodynamic–ecological models to test interventions — nutrient load reduction, diversion walls, aeration — before money is committed.
